Correspondence and other papers of Dr. Bennett Franklin Davenport, a director of the Charles River Embankment Co. Correspondence relates to the Company's development of land along the Charles River in Boston and Cambridge, Mass.; and to the history of the manufacturing of railroad passenger cars. Included is a biographical sketch of Davenport's father, Charles Davenport, who was an early manufacturer of railroad cars. Also, historical notes on the Middlesex Canal and a branch railroad in Watertown, Mass.
